Michael Mullowney, MD - Caring For Diverse Medical Patients in Alaska

With 23 years of experience as a member of the Alaska Hospitalist Group, Michael Mullowney, MD, has delivered care in various clinical settings. As a busy internist in a high volume setting, he managed the treatment of critically ill patients in intensive care units and directed operations of medicine at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, AK for over a decade. Michael Mullowney, MD, has also directed the Alaska Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Department and presented numerous community lectures on topics such as medications, dementia, and pneumonia.

Moreover, Dr. Mullowney has volunteered with medical missions worldwide and worked in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, assisting attending physicians at the wound and tuberculosis clinics. As a volunteer at Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia in the early 2000s, he combined direct patient care with mentoring local physicians. Dr. Mullowney has also served as a visiting physician at Beijing University Hospital, treating patients in various medical wards while lecturing and mentoring residents and medical students.

Dr. Mullowney has an eye for architecture and residential design, and envisioned a custom home in Alaska that attained nationwide recognition in 2012. He has a strong interest in green technologies and incorporating sustainable solutions, such as solar panels for water heating and electricity, and water catchment systems that minimize water use.
